MNCFR conference, Engaging Families and Communities for Racial Equity

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Nov. 21, 2016 - PRLog -- The Minnesota Council on Family Relations will present a conference for family professionals, students, and community advocates on Engaging Families and Communities for Racial Equity. "It is essential for everyone to understand how to empower others to lead within their respective spheres of influence. This is a call to leadership for social justice," according to keynote speaker Artika Tyner, Ed.D., J.D., Associate Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion, University of St. Thomas. Dr. Tyner's keynote address will provide key strategies for advancing racial equity. These strategies include building restorative communities, engaging community partners, creating a legislative agenda, and developing strategic partnerships.

Afternoon breakout sessions will include topics such as Promise Neighborhoods, Expanding Diversity and Equity in Organizations, Native American Injustices, and People in Poverty and Crisis.
