United Premier Soccer League Commish Yan Skwara Appears on SiriusXM to Discuss Pro/Rel Model

LOS ANGELES - Nov. 21, 2016 - PRLog -- United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) commissioner Yan Skwara was a guest Monday on North American's No. 1 soccer call-in show.

Skwara spoke to Jason Davis, host of "United States of Soccer," a live on-air property of SiriusXM Satellite Radio, about the UPSL's new Promotion/Relegation Model and the league's expansion plans.

In a first for any professionally soccer league operated in the United States, the UPSL announced plans on Nov. 2, 2016 to install its Promotion/Relegation Model beginning with its 2017 Spring Season.

UPSL member clubs which reach the Fall 2016 playoffs will qualify for the new Pro Premier Division. All other clubs will play within the Championship Division. All Pro Premier must also meet minmum Pro Premier standards.

UPSL will operate its system of promotion and relegation between both a Pro Premier and its Championship Divisions for clubs in each of its five member states -- California, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho and Colorado.

In a recent announcement on Nov. 11, 2016, four Colorado-based clubs agreed to join the UPSL next season.

FC Boulder, Colorado Rush, Colorado Springs FC and Indios Denver FC will immediately enter into the Pro Premier Division for the 2017 Spring Season.

The UPSL currently operates 40 plus teams all based in California, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho and Colorado with 50 plus teams targeted for 2017 Spring campaign. With the addition of new clubs, the United Premier Soccer League is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining UPSL minimum standards.

All UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
