Follow on Google News | Kent State's College of Business Hosts Career Clothes Closet Event for StudentsBy: Kent State College of Business Administration The scholarship was created to fund the purchase of a business suit for students with a major in business who would likely have difficulty affording a professional business suit. In August, the scholarship was awarded to 63 students and will be awarded every semester to qualifying students on an ongoing basis. Students receiving the scholarship must have at least junior standing, meet GPA requirements for good academic standing and demonstrated financial need as reflected in their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In order to receive a suit, recipients were required to complete three career development sessions, which included a mock interview, resume review and career preparation workshop. Once they completed those sessions, students attended a pop-up shop at the Kent Student Center to select a suit color and size. "Research has clearly documented the importance of first impression in a job interview", said Cathy DuBois, Ph.D., associate dean for the College of Business Administration. "The donors are passionate about helping students with financial need, and want these students to feel confident as they cross the threshold from college to employment. In addition to looking professional, they need a polished resume and strong interview skills." The Career Clothes Closet was generously funded by Vic Harisis and Michael and Janet Haughn. The College of Business Administration collaborated with Men's Warehouse and Dillard's, both of which offered suits at a deep discount to maximize the purchase capacity of donor funds. Suit style was pre-selected and free tailoring was provided to students to ensure appropriate fit. "Men's Warehouse and Dillard's were so generous in their time and efforts to prepare for the event with our students and provide students with quality suits. I look forward to working with them and our student recipients for the spring semester scholarship," To learn more about the College of Business Administration, visit https://www.kent.edu/ ### Kent State University's College of Business Administration is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB) and one of the largest colleges of business in Ohio.
