The Afrikin Fest Dream Deferred

MIAMI - Nov. 18, 2016 - PRLog -- Dear Afrikin Fest Supporters:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that we must postpone Afrikin Fest 2016 to minimize further loss due to disappointing ticket sales, with only 13 advance tickets sold for the entire festival. In the times that we're living in, there seems to be a flourishing sense of uncertainty, so much that people were unable to commit to attending the festival by purchasing advance tickets, and supporting the movement and talent Afrikin Fest curated.

Team Afrikin worked on this project for nearly one year, and we know that the artists, speakers, and chefs in our lineup put in their hard work and dedication as well. They, along with our sponsors, believed in the vision of Team Afrikin and Afrikin Fest and we were witnesses to their tireless promotional efforts.

We thank every speaker, chef, presenter, and artist scheduled to perform or present at Afrikin Fest, for believing in the dream. We find it quite unfortunate that we could not deliver on this dream at this time. Still, as in any new endeavor, as most humans know and have come to accept at one point in life or another, sometimes you have to go at it more than once to get it right.

Our belief in the people and our conviction was so strong in the need to highlight the ingenuity and promise of the African diaspora that we had to fight to the eleventh hour to see how we could accomplish Afrikin Fest. We're extremely saddened to have disappointed our supporters, and we hope you do not give up on us for dreaming big.
