MyPledger launches 'Brighter Futures' Giving Tuesday Campaign to Promote Youth in Technology

ATLANTA - Nov. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, MyPledger has launched a local demonstration campaign, 'Brighter Futures', to raise awareness and funding in support of youth access to technology.  PowerMyLearning and National CARES Mentoring Movement have joined MyPledger as community partners to share life-changing stories and testimonials. The Collaborative will use Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to highlight the successes of children who harness the power of technology. All nonprofits are invited to join the conversation by using the hashtag #BrighterFutures on November 29^th, Giving Tuesday.

Research has shown that early exposure to STEM initiatives and activities positively impacts elementary students' perceptions and dispositions (Bagiati, Yoon, Evangelou, & Ngambeki, 2010; Bybee, & Fuchs, 2006). PowerMyLearning and National CARES Mentoring Movement are making strides within the community by leveraging MyPledger's technology to help their organizations to raise funds to directly benefit youth in Georgia.  For example, National CARES is piloting The Rising: An HBCU–Public Schools Literacy and STEM- Mentoring Initiative®. Now in development at Clark Atlanta University and funded by the National Science Foundation, Verizon, AT&T, Coca-Cola and the Department of Energy, the initiative is designed to increase middle-school students' self-esteem, reading comprehension, STEM competencies and critical-thinking skills.
