The Hudson Gateway REALTOR® Foundation Supports Local Community with Grant to Furniture Sharehouse

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Nov. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- On Wednesday, November 9th, The Hudson Gateway REALTOR® Foundation presented Furniture Sharehouse, Westchester's Furniture Bank with a $2,000 grant. This grant will help Furniture Sharehouse continue to address a critical and growing need in Westchester County by providing free furniture to those moving out of homeless shelters into apartments as well as to other economically challenged individuals and families who do not have funds for furnishings.

The Hudson Gateway REALTOR® Foundation supports community-based charities that serve the housing, hunger, health, happiness, and humane needs of those in Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange, and Bronx Counties. The Hudson Gateway REALTOR® Foundation was created in 2003 and has already donated tens of thousands of dollars to charities such as Make-A-Wish® Hudson Valley, Habitat for Humanity, the Westchester Coalition for the Hungry and Homeless (now the Food Bank for Westchester) and many others.

Furniture Sharehouse helps over 450 Westchester families and individuals each year by collecting gently-used furniture from the community and redistributing it directly to help those in need fill their empty apartments and rebuild their lives. Since 2007, Furniture Sharehouse has distributed over 57,000 items worth over $3.4 million to more than 10,000 individuals in need from their warehouse located at Westchester County Airport. Clients are referred by a network of over 25 member agencies including Westhab, WestCOP, Human Development Services of Westchester, Hope's Door, Choice, The Guidance Center and many more.
