LAS VEGAS, N.M. - Nov. 15, 2016 - PRLog -- City government is getting onboard the information superhighway.

A "virtual pressroom" was recently added to the city's website, www.lasvegasnm.gov, allowing for worldwide distribution of local news. The pressroom can be accessed from the site's home page, or by visiting https://pressroom.prlog.org/lasvegasnmgov/

The pressroom is hosted by prlog.org, a leading press release distribution service. It features an RSS feed which allows interested parties to subscribe and receive new postings automatically.

Lee Einer, the city's Public Information Officer, said that the virtual pressroom is one of several initiatives aimed at improving communication between city government and the public.

"People want to know what's happening at City Hall," Einer said, "and we want to tell them. We want information streams without bottlenecks, speed-bumps or filters. That means building information pipelines directly between City Hall and our community."

The city is investigating a number of other avenues for improved communication, including live-streaming city council meetings over Youtube.
