Playwrights Mike Broemmel & Seth Holley Bring Life of Hedy Lamarr to Stage

DENVER - Nov. 14, 2016 - PRLog -- Playwrights Mike Broemmel and Seth Holley will see their latest script premiere on the stage in Denver, Colorado, USA, in November in a series for workshop productions, followed by a full world premierer in December. The play focuses on the unusual life of silver screen icon Hedy Lamarr. The play is entitled Stand Still & Look Stupid.

The title comes from Lamarr's explanation of what a woman needed to do to be glamorous. The play represents the fourth Broemmel-Holley collaboration. The three prior plays co-written by Mike Broemmel and Seth Holley are:

The duo also collaborated on a suspense novel, Stolen Light, which was released recently.

Stand Still & Look Stupid tells Lamarr's tale. She was the most popular World War II pin-up girl and was known worldwide as "the most beautiful girl in the world."

What most people do not realize is that Hedy Lamarr was a brilliant inventor. Her work laid the groundwork for the technology that permits us to have WiFi, Bluetooth, television remote controls and a wide-range of other products we depend on each and every day. Hedy Lamarr was a talented actress ... but she truly is also the proverbial "mother of WiFi," among other things.

"Working on this project has been a truly amazing adventure. I have been researching Hedy Lamarr for a couple of years. She is my hero," explained Mike Broemmel.

Cathy Washburn, an actor, assisted in the preparation of the script. The initial production of Stand Still & Look Stupid stars Alison Vance in the title role. The play is directed by award-winning director Ren Manley.

A trio of workshop productions will run at the 910 ARTS Center, in the Arts District on Santa Fe, in Denver, Colorado, over Thanksgiving Weekend. The world premiere will run in the same location in December.

Stand Still & Look Stupid is part of the Iconic Women Theatre Series. The Series features women whose life stories have not been completely or accurately told.

"For someone responsible for so much, so little is known about her," Broemmel lamented.
