'THANK U' - featuring Steve Cooke & Frank Simes at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards

LOS ANGELES - Nov. 14, 2016 - PRLog -- Hollywood Music in Media Award (HMMA) recipient and 2016 nominee ("Best Rock Song") Steve Cooke, will close this year's prestigious awards event with Frank Simes and their new band THANK U.

Steve Cooke, a well known Los Angeles musician and singer has teamed up with the Who's musical director Frank Simes to create the band THANK U, a tribute to Led Zeppelin's guitarist Jimmy Page and vocalist Robert Plant's No Quarter unledded tour.

Cooke and Simes bear a striking resemblance to Plant and Page, and the visual experience is brought home by Cooke's uncanny ability to match Plant's powerful vocals and Simes's incendiary playing, echoing the flair, punch and nuance of Page's guitar parts.

THANK U brings together the magic and sophistication of blending acoustic rock with classical music, as compellingly as the original Page Plant-No Quarter Unledded concerts.

The band also features bass player Jamie Hunting (Roger Daltrey), second guitarist Gelacio Arias (aka Gratz) and a string quartet featuring, first violin Jean Sudbury (Page Plant),Gina Kronstadt (Rod Stewart/Aretha Franklin)second violin, Marcy Vaj (Paul McCartney)viola and Kevan Torfeh (California Philharmonic Orchestra)cello.

"The concert will deliver an intimate, powerful acoustic and chamber music quality and closing such an amazing awards show is a real honor," says Cooke.

The 2016 HMMA event will be held on November 17^th at 7.00 pm in the Fonda Theater on Hollywood Blvd/Los Angeles. Past honorees include Smokey Robinson, Glen Campbell, Dave Mason, Christopher Young, and John Debney.

The winners are determined by music-media industry professionals comprised of select members of the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL), The Television Academy, the AMPAS Music Branch, NARAS, performing rights organizations, film music journalists and music executives.

The HMMAs are a strong predictor of best original song and best original score for Golden Globe and Oscar nominations.
