NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Nov. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- Whitneyville Cultural Commons presents renowned, Emmy Award-winning pianist and composer, Dr. Rex Cadwallader, celebrating his 70th birthday with an audacious goal of performing 70 concerts for 70 noble causes.  Rex and noted operatic soprano Tiffany Jackson will be performing on Saturday, December 10 at the Whitneyville Cultural Commons to benefit People Involved in Motivating Our Students Higher (PIMOSH).  General admission is $20, admission for students and seniors is $10, and children under 18 with a parent are FREE.

Rex Cadwallader is a noted jazz pianist, composer, and educator.  He received an Emmy Award in 1999 for his original score for "The Connecticut River: A Journey Through Time," and an Emmy Nomination in 1998 for his score for "Connecticut for All Seasons." He has received composition and performance awards as well as study grants from National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for Humanities, and has published over sixty compositions for big band, jazz combo,  and vocal jazz ensemble.  His music has been recorded throughout the US and Europe, and his scores fro television have been heard worldwide.

Tiffany Jackson, also performing at Whitneyville Cultural Commons on December 10th is an operatic soprano, teacher, and professional trainer who has used her gift of music to change the lives of others, but that of her own.  Coming from humble beginnings to the worldwide stage, Ms. Jackson is living proof that dreams do come true.  With a bachelor degree from the University of Michigan, Masters degree from YALE University, and is currently a Doctoral student at UCONN, all in music, no wonder she's on top of the world!  Tiffany, in addition to her passion for music is just as generous as Mr. Cadwallader, with whom she has accompanied throughout most of his 70 benefit concerts.  Her commitment to People Involved in Motivating Our Students Higher (PIMOSH), however, comes from a real place.

According to Tiffany, "there's no better way to give back than to do so with inner-city kids."  Ms. Jackson was part of 2013 Guest Speaker Series where she was able to do a workshop with aspiring student singers through Summer Intensive Arts Education & Technology Institute (New Haven).  She gave lessons, explained vocal chords and helped students arrange an original tune called "Mean Ole Green" all in the same setting.  It's no wonder she's an artist and professor of music - many art professionals have talent, yet few with the grace to transfer their gift to others, especially children with big dreams like those who enroll in PIMOSH programs.  Extremely talented students k-12 can submit applications for 2017 Summer Intensive Arts Education & Technology Institute here: http://www.pimosh.net/summer-intensive-arts

Join in on the fun by bringing out the entire family for a Holiday Benefit Concert, Silent Auction and so much more featuring noted jazz and music professionals touring throughout Connecticut on a mission blessing 70 causes that matter through musicianship.  What an awesome way to celebrate Dr. Rex Cadwallader's 70th birthday, giving back to those less fortunate than he.  Get your tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/tiffany-jackson-rex-cadwalla...

Countless students have been involved in PIMOSH programs as kids.  Let's see if you can recognize Avery Wilson, the Voice season 3 now signed with Clive Davis/Arista or Logan West, Miss Teen USA (2012), both from Connecticut and both got an early dose of the PIMOSH experience.  Avery Wilson appears on Luvin' Language Arts by Crunch Bunch and Logan featured at International Festival of Arts & Ideas as kids. Here's a video featuring young Avery Wilson singing and original Crunch Bunch song, "Under the Sea," https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91kCrcGa7-Y
