AUSTIN, Texas - Nov. 10, 2016 - PRLog -- The Social Model Hospice movement is really taking off in the United States. The model addresses the needs of the caregiver profoundly. It is like a 'home away from home' in providing 24 hour care for the person dying. The caregiving team is a combination of volunteers of the home, family caregivers, paid caregivers and the hospice team.

The Toni and Trish House is just one of several in the country providing this type of loving care at the end of life. They have been serving people in the Auburn Michigan are for 8 years now. Kevin shares his experience with us today.

Bio of Kevin and the House:

Kevin became involved with the Toni and Trish House after his father was a guest here in 2010. He came back to the house with his fourteen year old daughter to volunteer one year after his father's passing, while going to nursing school at Mid Michigan Community College.

After a short time, Kevin became a Care Coordinator at the house as he finished his college studies and continued working part time at the house until April of 2012. He came back in May 2015 to serve as Executive Director.

The Toni and Trish House Bio: This home fulfills the wishes of two special women who did not know each other in life, yet in their deaths their families have created a beautiful home for the dying. This house is a collaborative effort of two families who lost a loved one. The Toni & Trish House is named for Antoinette "Toni" (Cianek) Waskevich, who died in an automobile accident at the age of 52, and Pat "Trish" McKelvey, who died from cancer in 2005 at the age of 75. The families of both women had independently started funds in hopes of someday creating a home for the terminally ill. Upon learning of each others efforts, the families joined together to support and form the Toni and Trish House for the Terminally Ill. The home opened to the first guest in March 2008. the best in individualized and compassionate end of life care to all who need it. website: https://toniandtrishhouse.org/
