The project broke ground on Nov. 1, 2016, and UPS expects to be fully operational on Nov. 1, 2017. Majestic Realty Co., Invest Atlanta, City of Atlanta, State of Georgia, Fulton County and UPS make up this public/private partnership. This project is expected to be a catalyst of redevelopment on Fulton Industrial Boulevard.
"The infrastructure in the surrounding area is too strong for this plot of land to be vacant," said Stan Conway, executive vice president and board member of Majestic Realty Co. "The site's commanding presence of undeveloped land sits between several major highways and ultimately was the perfect spot for a project like this. It will be a catalyst and job-creator for this important part of Fulton County inside the city of Atlanta."
Additionally, the existing 927 runway will be repurposed, and Majestic will move 1-million yards of dirt from the UPS site to the site of the new hangars, which could include larger hangars to accommodate larger private planes.
