Relaxing retreat for patients and caregivers affected by cancer is bringing big names, emotional stories, and great hope to a group of attendees from all across the country.
DALLAS - Nov. 9, 2016 - PRLog -- Retreat from Cancer is providing an unforgettable weekend of information, inspiration, and hope to cancer patients. This free event will be held on The Mountain in Canton, Texas from November 11th through 13th.

Hearing the words "you have cancer" is never easy.  If the cancer has spread it is even more terrifying.  Having the ability to connect with other survivors and caregivers is a priceless opportunity. The weekend will begin with local country artist Clay Thrash, dinner, and then the heartwarming story and songs of Stage 4 Colon Cancer survivor and beloved country musician, Wade Hayes.

Saturday morning will start with the soulful tunes and story of award winning Blues Musician and Stage 4 Liver Cancer survivor, Curtis Salgado.  An expert team of multidisciplinary oncology physicians including Dr. Rohan Jeyarajah (Dallas), Dr. Kevin Short (Tyler), Dr. Andrew Kennedy (Nashville), and Dr. Jim Caridi (New Orleans) will discuss new options and treatments on the horizon.  The atmosphere will change as Grammy winning artist, Micki Free takes the stage with Grammy nominated producer and keyboardist, Paul Brown who will share his perspective as caregiver to his wife, Stage 4 Breast Cancer survivor, April before playing songs from the newly released album "The Flute as Therapy."

After lunch, there will be a relaxing yoga session with yogi master Susan Becker Reeves.  Then Laurie Johnson Todd, award winning author and Stage 4 Appendiceal Cancer survivor, who is better known as The Insurance Warrior will give an empowering talk about overturning insurance denials.  Guests will then be treated to an Old West gunfight by the Texicans before sessions of art, yoga or free time.  Dinner and entertainment from Steve and Kathie Partain and Cliff Allen will end the night.

Sunday will be all about networking and sharing stories.  Henry Lewis will start the day with Savvy Papa's Sketches that set the tone for great life lessons.  Linda Fischer, Patricia Hagerman, Suzanne Martin, Brian MacLeod, and Carolyn Murrah will talk about living with Stage 4 cancer.  Emmy winning writer and comedian, Steve Mazan, who is a stage 4 neuroendocrine cancer survivor will entertain the group.  There will be open discussion about survivorship issues, plans, and hope.  The program will finish with an empowering story from Debra Davis and her son Josh Davis, award winning Elvis impersonator.
