![]() Living Legacy Videos For First Responders With Terminal IllnessesBy: Thru My Eyes Thru My Eyes' (TME) mission has always been to help parents with a chronic or life-threatening illness create clinically guided video legacies for the children they leave behind, in the privacy of their own home, all at no cost. The only requirements: "If a selfless individual like a police officer or firefighter has a terminal illness, we want to make sure we get to preserve a piece of their lives recorded for their loved ones," said Carri Rubinstein, President and Co-founder. "These people put their lives on the line every time they walk out the door; how could we not offer this priceless service to these courageous individuals?" The organization has already created living legacies for two First Responders and expects to have many more requests. Founded six years ago by Carri Rubinstein and Michelle P. Maidenberg, PhD, TME was created out of the desire to help parents who feared the impact their life-altering illness would have on their children. No one knows this better than Carri. When diagnosed with breast cancer some years ago, she became apprehensive about leaving her children bereft of her love and guidance and understood how important it was for parents to leave their messages of love and words of wisdom for the children they would leave behind — children who may be too young to remember the happy times they shared together. As Carri explains, "Creating a video legacy for a parent who has been diagnosed with an illness that threatens their life is the ultimate gift for a child." Headquartered in New York, Thru My Eyes is a national organization that serves individuals from New York to California and from Buffalo to Florida. They are also proud to say they now serve Canada. Living Legacy videos are recorded in-person as well as remotely (via online interface) for individuals who reside outside the New York Metro area. To ensure the highest quality, legacies are created with the guidance of trained mental health professionals and an award-winning videographer. Thru My Eyes is supported by personal donations, fundraising events and private grants. All services are provided completely free of charge. http://www.ThruMyEyes.org https://youtu.be/ End
