SAN ANTONIO - Nov. 3, 2016 - PRLog -- On Veterans Day 2016 the American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program (NVOP) will host its 3rdAnnual Veterans Day Golf Tournament at the Golf Club of Texas to raise funds to support veterans and their families who are in need. For the past 44 years, NVOP's commitment to the veteran community has changed more than 450,000 lives, and they continue to work tirelessly for returning warriors every day. The ultimate goal at NVOP is to provide veterans with permanent, sustainable housing and access to meaningful employment. However, many times, grant restrictions limit the type of assistance that can be offered. That is why all proceeds from the 3rd Annual Veterans Day Golf Tournament go directly to fund immediate veteran needs such as housing assistance, employment support, childcare, emergency food, clothing, utility costs, mental health support, and transportation.

Two-time NBA Champion and former San Antonio Spur Malik Rose will also participate in the tournament as an ambassador for the Keller Williams' The Sharing and Caring Foundation, Inc. Presenting sponsorship. "The Sharing and Caring Foundation is a charitable non-profit organization of caring associates responding to meet the needs of persons within our community," said Malik Rose. "I am pleased that the foundation's support of the tournament will help to support our veterans in San Antonio and ensure that they and their families never struggle with homelessness."

"Veterans walk through our doors every day looking for an opportunity to get back on their feet, and thanks to the supporters and sponsors of this tournament, we are able to give them that opportunity," said NVOP President and CEO Carlos Martinez. "Every dollar we raise on November 11 will help provide veterans with the support they need as they work to stabilize their lives."

About the American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program

The mission of the American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program (NVOP) is to establish and maintain a comprehensive community service agency with a diversified funding source that will serve the needs of veterans, their families, and other needy individuals of the community.

NVOP was founded and developed as a separate corporation in 1972 by the American GI Forum of the U.S., the nation's largest Hispanic veteran organization chartered by the U.S. Congress. The objective was to create a new entity that would provide "hands on" services to veterans in the community.

NVOP, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, is recognized nationally as a premier community-based service provider specializing in services for veterans with special needs. NVOP is anorganization with diversified service components administered by the prime organization (NVOP) and five sub-corporations that operate services that include employment and training for veterans, affordable housing, homeless veteran services, and economic development projects that include the Veterans Enterprises of Texas (VETS) box manufacturing company and VETS Disabled Work Center.

As a charitable organization, NVOP and all sub-corporations are non-profit entities overseen by a board of directors composed of community volunteers and elected officers of the American GI Forum membership organization. In the past 44 years, NVOP has established a glittering reputation of administrative professionalism and accountability, and a sterling reputation for innovation in developing services meeting the contemporary needs of the veterans of today. NVOP has never been cited for any disallowed expenses on its annual independent audits, and it has received such accolades as the Regional Award for Cost Effectiveness from the U.S. Department of Labor and awarded the U.S. Department of HUD Blue Ribbon award for innovation in economic development when it created the Veterans Enterprises of Texas (VETS) box manufacturing company that created jobs for disabled individuals.
