Follow on Google News | London event to advise UK doctors on overseas opportunitiesHead Medical to hold two-day seminar in London to advise UK doctors on opportunities for working abroad
By: Head Medical Head Medical, the leading UK-based international agency specialising in the recruitment of doctors, is to hold a series of seminars over two days on November 12 and 13 at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Ludgate Hill. Designed to give consultants and GPs an insight into working in Australia, New Zealand, the Gulf and Singapore the seminar provides everything doctors need to know before deciding on a career move overseas. A recent study published by the British Medical Association found almost half of UK doctors have considered working abroad because of deteriorating working conditions in the NHS. The BMA Cohort Doctor report revealed 42 per cent of those interviewed were disillusioned by their experiences as a doctor being worse than they had expected when entering the profession. A similar percentage said they had plans to work overseas with many of them citing low morale, poor life-work balance, increased responsibilities, more stress and too much paperwork as a reason. Head Medical, which has helped more than 600 doctors find dream jobs abroad, has already carried out similar seminars in Dublin and Edinburgh. Each event is aimed at doctors who have already made the decision to move abroad and want practical help, or for those who are curious about the process of relocating and want to explore their options. "We've run a number of these free events across the UK for doctors looking to move to Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the Gulf and we have seen a marked increase in attendance at each one," said Mark Goodwin, Marketing Manager at Head Medical. "When we ran a similar event in Edinburgh last year there was a lot of interest from doctors who came along to find out more details. This year the number of people attended almost doubled and it's been a similar story across the UK. We are expecting a large turnout at the London seminar. "We don't actively headhunt doctors for overseas posts. The people we deal with have already made up their minds they want to move. We just provide information on the professional and personal lifestyle they can expect in their various countries of interest, whether that's Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the Gulf, Singapore, Central Asia, the Caribbean or the South Atlantic, and make the transition as smooth as possible." In addition to helping UK doctors find career moves abroad Head Medical now helps doctors looking for permanent and locum jobs in the UK, many of which are advertised on their website www.headmedical.com. The event on Saturday and Sunday, 12-13 November, is split into two sessions each day. The first, between 10.30am and 12.30pm is for Consultants and the second, between 2pm and 4pm, is for GPs. The first day will look at Australia and New Zealand in depth while the Sunday sessions explain the attractions of Australia, New Zealand, the Gulf and Singapore. Topics covered will include visa application, medical registration, job opportunities, financial matters, and more. There will also be the opportunity for attendees to ask questions during an interactive Q&A session after the main presentations. ends For more details on Head Medical and to find out more about the London seminar on November 12 and 13 please visit www.headmedical.com or contact Mark Goodwin at Head Medical on 0131 226 2200.
