Follow on Google News | Generosity Feeds Volunteer Event at Douglass Community Center in Leesburg, VA, was a Huge Success!Hundreds of NOVA community members get together to help pack thousands of meals to feed hungry children in Loudoun County.
By: Generosity Feeds Generosity Feeds is an organization that started in Loudoun County but is now a national organization working with churches, businesses, and organizations in local communities around the country to help feed children struggling with hunger. One in six children in Loudoun struggle with hunger. Although we are one of the wealthiest counties in the country, we have many families that lack the food necessary to live healthy and thriving lives. The Leesburg Junction, who sponsored and organized this event is a new, collaborative & creative work space, event venue & soon-to-be coffee shop in downtown Leesburg. They partnered with Generosity Feeds to bring the community together to help and service those in need. Three local non-profit organizations are working with the Leesburg Junction to get the meals that were packaged at the event to the children who need them. Mobile Hope, Loudoun Hunger Relief and Backpack Coalition received and will distribute the meals throughout the community to families in need. With generous donations and an offer to help, several local businesses have stepped up to sponsor this event and cover the cost of the meals. We are thankful for the sponsors supporting this effort and recognize our main corporate sponsors: Toth Financial, Volkswagen Group of America, Abbey Design Center, Cochran Family Dental, John Marshall Bank and Madigan Construction. Teams from each of these businesses were onsite to pack the meals and really help make a difference. Shiva Etessam, Owner of Abbey Design Center stated, "I wanted to be involved with the Generosity Feeds event from the moment I found out about the effort. It is inspiring to see what we can do when we work together. We wanted to make a difference for local families and especially the children. No one should ever be excluded from the necessities of a good life: the comfort of a warm home, the warmth of a good meal; no child should go hungry. We were proud to be a part of this local effort." The Leesburg Junction hosts a variety of events like this one for the community to enjoy and engage in. These opportunities are what we call "WeSERVE". Like the Generosity Feeds event, WeSERVE is an opportunity for our community to come together to serve others in our community. Our next "WeSERVE" will be Sunday, Jan. 29 at the Leesburg Junction.
