BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Oct. 27, 2016 - PRLog -- The Caring Economy is on the rise.  Looking at the success of companies like TOMS Shoes and Warby Parker, we see proof that socially conscious businesses are the future of U.S.-based commerce, not just a trend.  With that reality in mind, some companies have taken the idea a step further by enabling their customers to personally select which causes benefit from their purchase dollars.  BeautyKind is leading the way with this idea in the online beauty retail world, and now the concept has made its way to the home goods sector with burgeoning start-up Brooklyn Wax Factory.

Brooklyn Wax Factory's mission is to become the world's first soy candle company that allows each individual customer to take ownership over the charities they support with their purchases.  After the completion of their Kickstarter campaign, Brooklyn Wax Factory will give every one of their candle buyers the ability to direct 5% of their purchase price to the charity of their choice.

The idea struck candle maker and founder Serena Fill after she had done some work as an ambassador for BeautyKind.  "Anyone can immediately see the societal importance of the BeautyKind business model, and it occurred to me that this would work in other retail categories as well.  We aim to elevate 'socially conscious consumption' to a personal level for our customers, and look to grow to major success in order to have the greatest impact on the widest possible range of causes."

While the nascent company is currently a small operation that hand-pours and numbers each candle, Fill believes their lofty ambitions won't conflict with their eco-minded, small-batch sensibilities.  "One of the best things about Brooklyn is there's never a shortage of able hands that are willing to help."

Brooklyn Wax Factory's altruistic intentions are already resonating with her fellow New Yorkers, with a third of its Kickstarter goal being met after the first week.  The Kickstarter campaign will continue until 8pm on Thursday November 3rd.  To learn more about Brooklyn Wax Factory, or to pledge your support, visit their campaign at this link:
