Protect Our Winters & KonectIDY join forces to help mobilize the snow sports community against clim

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. - Oct. 27, 2016 - PRLog -- Protect Our Winters (POW), a globally recognized nonprofit mobilizing the outdoor sports community in the fight against climate change, has partnered with KonectIDY, a cause-related and positive messaging bracelet company, to help reverse the effects of climate change by generating awareness and raising funds via a unique bracelet designed by, and for POW.

Protect Our Winters (POW) was founded in 2007 by pro snowboarder Jeremy Jones.  He found that more and more resorts he'd always counted on for good riding were closed due to lack of snow. Something was clearly going on, and he felt the need to act. But he couldn't find any organizations focused on mobilizing the snow sports community on climate—there was a gap between the impacts that climate change was already having on our mountains, and any organized action being taken to address it. And so Protect Our Winters was born.

A total of 20% of the Protect Our Winters Bracelet sales will go to POW, to further their educational initiatives, political advocacy and community-based activism.

"Human-influenced climate change is no hoax," said Chris Steinkamp, Executive Director of POW. "We're seeing climate change firsthand in the mountains. It's real, no doubt. And there is no time to waste debating it any more. KonectIDY is working with us to help spread this important message."

Climate change isn't a single season issue.   It's the single most pressing environmental issue of the modern world.  We all have our part to play.  Whether you ski, ride, surf, paddle or climb, the snow needs to fall.  The past decade has been the warmest on record.  Shockingly, the Northern Hemisphere has lost a million square miles of spring snowpack since 1970.  This is a debilitating statistic given the winter sports community generates over $66 billion dollars annually while supporting 965,000 jobs.  Left unchecked, climate change will irrevocably alter our natural playgrounds and the economic livelihoods of our mountain communities.
