Lloyds Bore's arboriculture team helps Kent family for BBC One's DIY SOS: The Big Build

Lloyd Bore Ltd were delighted to be contacted in September 2016 by BBC Bristol, who asked them if we would be willing to lend the DIY SOS: The Big Build team a helping hand to a family in desperate need on the Isle of Sheppey.

CANTERBURY, U.K. - Oct. 27, 2016 - PRLog -- Leading Kent-based landscape architecture and ecological assessment specialists Lloyd Bore were thrilled to be contacted recently by BBC Bristol to donate their time and energies in helping a deserving family in need of our expertise.

With the building work scheduled to start on the Isle of Sheppey in early October, their arboriculture team were asked to lend a hand during the early part of September to undertake a survey of all trees on and adjacent to the site free of charge and provide them with a tree survey plan and survey schedules before construction commenced.

As Managing Director Julian Bore explains, the company was more than happy to help a family in need at no cost:

"When we learned of the family's story, we made no hesitation in lending a helping hand and Ian Lee, our head of Arboriculture was delighted to take the team along to assess the clay heavy site and devise a report to assist the foundation designs, which can be heavily influenced by tree species, size and proximity near to the building."

"With tree radar technology readily at hand and portable, Lloyd Bore's 'arb team' were swiftly able to go on site and give a detailed analysis to the planning crew so they could make informed decisions as to what could be achieved before official construction started in early October, 2016."

As Julian continues to explain, this new technology enables the arboriculture team to make an assessment in minutes that in years past, would have taken weeks:

"The great advantage of our tree radar system is it's incredibly portable, so getting it to Minster-on-Sea was simple. Best of all, it's extremely quick at analysing the ground without any excavation, so we gave the team our findings well in advance of the start of the construction phase."

"After completing the report, we also ran checks on the protection status of the trees and sourced a local tree surgeon to undertake the removal of a large tree close to the planned new building. This helped ease any concerns and enabled them to put plans in place well in advance of the scheduled works and TV shoot."

The construction of the new house was completed on 13th October by the BBC's DIY SOS team and the family are said to be absolutely thrilled with their transformed home.

As Julian concludes… "all the team at Lloyd Bore are really excited for the positive changes this will bring about for the family, and we can't wait to see the completed house, and of course the show when it airs next year."
