ATLANTA - Oct. 27, 2016 - PRLog -- Mayor Kasim Reed is among a group of noted leaders in government, business, education, and the faith community who will be awarded on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at the Urban League of Greater Atlanta's 55th Annual Dinner and Gala. The high profile event will be held at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis hotel, starting with receptions at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 and an after-party with dessert and dancing at 9:30.

With the theme "Men of Power and Distinction," the organization known for its commitment to equal rights and economic empowerment also will honor Eduardo Martinez, president of the UPS Foundation; C.D. Moody, owner of Moody Construction and Rev. Raphael Warnock, senior pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church Nick Nelson, CMO, Liquid Soul Media and chairman of the ULGA board of directors and Charmaine Ward, Director, Community Affairs for Georgia Pacific and ULGA board member are co-chair. Comedian Jonathan Slocumb is Master of Ceremonies.

"So many men in our community have dedicated their professional and personal lives to uplifting others and opening doors of opportunity to adults and young people throughout the region," said Nancy Flake Johnson, ULGA president and CEO. "We are so very grateful and proud that these outstanding leaders have chosen to work with us on numerous projects that have advanced the cause of equal rights and economic growth in metro Atlanta.

"Now we have a chance to salute them for all that they mean to us and to so many people in Georgia and beyond. Like hundreds of thousands of men who are walking the walk every day, they are the best of the best among us, the ones who work diligently to build a just, safe and prosperous region for us all."

GEICO is the presenting partner for the event that will include entertainment by R&B group After 7. The group was founded by Melvin and Kevon Edmonds, brothers of singer-songwriter Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, along with Keith Mitchell. Actor Jonathan Slocumb will serve as master of ceremonies.
