HOUSTON - Oct. 27, 2016 - PRLog -- Artist Development is not being taken seriously these days; most Artists think it is as easy as recording music, placing the music online for sale and poof, instant fame and fortune. Artist Development is the development of the Artist's Image and public awareness. In the past, Artists and Repertoire Coordinators also known as A&Rs would be assigned to an Artist to assist with brand building, skill development and promotion, but now that part of the Music Industry has taken a back seat as more labels offer "Digital Distribution Only" where the Artist has to pay to have their music distributed and without Marketing and Promotion unless they pay an additional fee.

Some Artists are convinced that self-promotion is all that is needed but that is not true; to be successful, fans need to engage in sharing the music with others to ensure the Artist is reaching a larger audience. It is no big secret that sales are declining for some Major and Independent Recording Artists as more people prefer to stream music for $9.99 a month. Music Lovers can listen to millions of songs a month for only $9.99 rather than purchasing one album for $9.99. Artists must spend more time promoting links to streaming sites and make sure the music is marketed and promoted to many music resources.

The Calculation of Revenue in the Music Industry seems to be the hardest for Artists, Managers and Independent Labels to understand. Most of the money will be received for sales and streams that occurred over 4 months ago, which is the reason why ASCAP, BMI and SESAC pay earnings quarterly (every 3 months).

Many Music Fans, Recording Artists, Managers and Independent Labels do not realize just how much "The Music Industry" has changed over the years now that there are only have 3 Major Labels: Universal, Sony and Warner. Therefore Artists must make sure their fans are engaging in conversations about the music, interacting on Social Media by liking and sharing the music links and also writing Reviews on sites like iTunes, Amazon and Google Play after each and every music purchase.
