Helping Veterans in SW Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Oct. 24, 2016 - PRLog -- NOVEMBER IS "BRIGHTENING VETERANS LIVES" MONTH

BOWLAND CENTERS RAISING FUNDS TO HELP VETERANS AND ACTIVE DUTY TROOPS

(Fort Myers)—Knowing that southwest Florida is home to thousands of veterans, HeadPinz and Bowland Centers of Southwest Florida are pleased to once again raise funds for the B.V.L. organization during the month of November. BVL is the Bowlers-to-Veterans Link, a 501 © 3 group that was founded during World War II. The stated goal is to raise $10,000 to donate to the BVL fund by month's end.

"BVL is a national organization that has been supported by bowlers for more than 70 years," said Pat Ciniello, President of Bowland Centers. "Now more than ever, our efforts for the men and women protecting our freedoms are needed. With thousands of veterans, who served in WW II, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq/Afghanistan wars, plus those still serving overseas, there is no shortage of vets needing our assistance. The best news is that monies raised in southwest Florida will be used for veterans right here."

All HeadPinz and Bowland Centers will stage various fundraising efforts during November. The key event being the inaugural STRIKE FORCE 1 bowling tournament at Woodside Lanes and Coral Lanes on November 13. The event is open to the public and will feature a fun bowling event, live and silent auctions at both locations.

BVL, based in Fairfax, VA, was founded in 1942 by a group of bowlers who wanted to help boost the spirits of active duty troops. When World War II drew to a close, BVL made a promise to veterans recuperating in hospitals around the country---We Won't Forget Your Sacrifice! The BVL provides recreational and therapeutic equipment and services not funded by the government. BVL supports millions of veterans at the 173 VA Medical Centers, 206 Veterans Centers, 83 State Veterans Homes and a growing number of VA clinics nationwide.
