SEBAC Announces Recipient of 2016 Award for Excellence in Awarding Small Business Prime Contracts

U.S. Army Office of Small Business Programs Receives Recognition for Its Strong Support of Small Environmental Business Contracting
WASHINGTON - Nov. 2, 2016 - PRLog -- The Small Environmental Business Action Coalition (SEBAC) is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2016 Award for Excellence in Awarding Small Business Prime Contracts. This year's recipient is the U.S. Army Office of Small Business Programs. SEBAC presents the award to recognize a Federal agency's demonstrated commitment to small environmental business.

The procurement data, researched by FEDMINE.US, was specific to NAICS codes 562910 and 541620 among Federal agencies. The data was evaluated based on the number and quality of agency procurements and the agency's overall commitment to small businesses to determine the recipient of the Award for Excellence. This evaluation is based on a pre-established set of criteria which includes three key components:

•    The agency's ability to meet or exceed projected goals for fiscal year;
•    The agency's quality and quantity of small business awards; and
•    The agency's progress towards improvement in attaining goals (percentage increase and/or proven improvement).

We are pleased to recognize the U.S. Army Office of Small Business Programs for its strong support of small environmental businesses as demonstrated by the quantity and quality of small business prime contracts within NAICS codes 562910 and 541620. In government fiscal year 2016, the Army far exceeded the SBA's statutory goal of 23% by awarding 60.3% of prime contractor dollars in NAICS 562910/541620 to small businesses. This was an increase from 2015, in which the Army obligated 56.1% in these NAICS codes to small businesses. We also recognize the Army for the quantity of small business contract actions in these two NAICS codes: 1,401 contract actions totaling $261M in 2016.

SEBAC President, John Dwyer, and Award for Excellence cosponsors Fritz Meyer with EA Engineering Science and Technology and Tony Franco with PilieroMazza, will present the Award during SEBAC's Networking Reception and Award Presentation at the Cobb Galleria Centre, Room 102 in Atlanta, GA on November 17, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. The Cobb Galleria Centre is the same venue as the SAME Small Business Conference for DOD Engineering, Construction and Environmental Programs. Mr. Tommy L. Marks, Director, U.S. Army Office of Small Business Programs, will be on hand to accept the award.
