Oct. 21, 2016 - PRLog -- Tilhill Forestry, the UK's leading woodland management and timber harvesting and marketing company, has strengthened its services across Kent and Sussex with the appointment of John Allen, a very experienced local Senior Forest Manager.

Previously with the Forestry Commission, John is a key part of the southern England forestry team for Tilhill with responsibilities for the day-to-day management of forestry, harvesting and landscaping across Kent and Sussex.

John, who lives in Bexhill and is based at Tilhill Forestry's Groombridge offices, has worked in a variety of forestry, woodland and arboricultural management roles during his career. These have encompassed both the private and public sector and have included a variety of disciplines such as site clearance, utilities, arboretum management and amenity and recreational forestry as well as fencing and landscaping.

His expertise includes writing and implementing woodland management plans, conducting tree surveys and utilising management systems. Contract and project management in the forestry construction sector, including civil and recreation provision, is another of his strengths together with maintaining management systems in relation to woodland recreation infrastructure. At the Forestry Commission owned Bedgebury National Pinetum John led on projects such as cycle and play trail management, visitor infrastructure upgrades and management system compliance, as well as the management of operational delivery for the National Pinetum.

John said: "I am very excited about my new job. It's going to be a fantastic challenge and I'm very proud to be working for the leading company in the sector. With so much unmanaged woodland in the South East there is huge potential to help land owners realise the hidden assets contained within their woodland. Tilhill Forestry also has the support of our parent company BSW which offers a market to sell products – so we can offer a complete service at very competitive rates."

Julian Ohlsen, District Manager for Tilhill Forestry, Southern England added: "Knowing John from his days with Houlbec Forestry, We're delighted that John has joined the Tilhill Forestry team and I am confident that he will be a huge asset to the company and to our current and future customers."

John holds a BSc (Hons) Forestry and Forest Products, an Arboricultural Association Technician's Certificate and CITB Site Manager Safety Training Certificate. He is married with two children and enjoys house renovation and landscaping his garden in his spare time.

Tilhill Forestry Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the BSW Timber Group was established more than 65 years ago. It is a national company operating from a network of offices throughout the UK. The company provides a full range of consultancy and contracting services to the forest owner and forestry investor. Further information is available at www.tilhill.com
