Machine vs. Pitmasters at the 2nd Annual San Francisco BBQ FestivalCome meet the little bot that will be competing against the big boys at the 2nd annual San Francisco BBQ Festival on Saturday.
By: BBQbot Matt Tamashiro and Rich Matsuura are hoping to capture the top honor with their new automated device, BBQbot, while also demonstrating how their smart gadget will enable anyone (including non pitmasters!) to make competition quality bbq on their very first try. "We wanted BBQbot to be easy and affordable," To make great BBQ, pitmasters typically need to maintain their meat at a low and constant temperature while it's smoking which normally takes many hours, a lot of work and years of practice. "BBQbot will transform people's perception of the difficulty of making awesome barbecue. With our smart device, you no longer need to spend a ton of money on an expensive smoker or spend hours checking the temperature of the oven and the meat as it cooks. It allows anyone to make mouthwatering ribs, brisket, or pulled pork with ease and even notifies you via text message when the meat is done," says Rich Matsuura. About the 2nd Annual San Francisco BBQ Festival: This annual festival will showcase the best BBQ, hosting a Kansas City Barbeque Society-sanctioned competition with a $10,000 prize. More than 40 competition teams are expected to participate and over 40 certified judges will be rating the competition meat. The family and dog friendly event will also feature a beer garden with 15 local craft breweries, live music from local bands, games, a cornhole tournament and more. The San Francisco BBQ Festival will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Yard at Mission Rock, near AT&T Park, San Francisco, CA.
