KAUKAUNA, Wis. - Oct. 21, 2016 - PRLog -- Take Me to the River art exhibit will be held Nov. 4 to Dec. 2 in the River Level Suites of the Historic Eagle Mill at Grand Kakalin, 207 Thilmany Road.

The month-long art exhibit will showcase a vast array of local creative talent. Free and open to the public, the exhibit will feature multi-sensory art experiences, pop-ups and art-infused surprises throughout. Highlights will include visual art galleries, live music, audio art, photography, performing art, storytelling, writing, poetry, hair and makeup, fashion, motion graphics/animation art, film, interactive projection mapping, and culinary art.

The exhibit's opening reception at 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Nov. 4 features live music by Christopher Gold, Nicholas Raymond and LevenhagenArts. The closing celebration from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Dec. 2 includes performances by Hillary Reynolds and Feed the Dog. All ages are encouraged to visit the gallery during general open hours from noon to 5 p.m., Mon-Fri during the exhibit. Private and public evening and weekend events in collaboration with this exhibit are also in the works.

The use of the building space was made possible by signature sponsor, Stadtmueller & Associates. The local company focuses on redevelopment and historic preservation, with many of their projects located along the Fox River. "Take Me to the River at Grand Kakalin is an inaugural blend of community heritage with the arts as a key component," said company President and building co-owner Randy Stadtmueller. "The Fox River is what connects many of us to our past and to our future. History, arts and culture help to tell this important story," he added.

Jean Detjen, Founder of the new Take Me to the River arts revival initiative was inspired by the newly restored 1872 riverfront paper mill. "The Grand Kakalin riverfront space is brimming with character, beauty and life," she said. Detjen viewed the raw, industrial vacant lower level as a canvas for artists to tell the story of the river through their creations.

Along with the Bank of Kaukauna, The Heart of the Valley Chamber of Commerce is a collaborative partner in the project. Kelli Clussman, executive director said: "We are proud to be part of Take Me to the River. This event showcases the talent and diversity of our community while spotlighting the Historic Eagle Mill at Grand Kakalin."

"My river path is through my art and now I'm sharing it with Kaukauna which became a town because of the river, the Indians, fur trading and the paper mill," says contributing artist Patt Huss. "To be a part of that history, and to be a part of this great exciting venue, reviving art in the community is refreshing indeed."
