New Kickstarter Campaign Brings History Alive

The Drowned Lands: Echoes of a Lost People - A new book based on the lost world of Doggerland

TETBURY, U.K. - Oct. 20, 2016 - PRLog -- Did you know that the UK used to be joined to mainland Europe and that the Rhine River used to be joined to the Thames?  Current research is revealing what really happened to the area called Doggerland, which stretched across much of the area that now forms the North Sea.

Tens of thousands of people were believed to have lived there yet they have been lost to European history.  Ri Ferrier, based in the Cotswolds, has recently launched a Kickstarter Campaign to raise funds to write 'The Drowned Lands – Echoes of a Lost People'.

"I've had recurring dreams of rising sea levels and tsunamis so when I read about Doggerland I felt immediately called to write the story of those lost to the ocean."

Archaeologists have discovered that there were a number of catastrophic events, one after the other, which led to the demise of our ancestors who lived on Doggerland.  About 8200 years ago, there was a sharp change in temperature, rising sea levels and to top it all, the largest tsunami the world has ever seen. This chain of events made the UK the island it is today.

Ri explained why she feels this book is so important "there may be lessons to be learnt from the fate of Doggerland but the key for me is that we remember those lost."

The Kickstarter Campaign is to write an adult work of fiction, based on fact and can be found here:
