REDMOND, Wash. - Oct. 20, 2016 - PRLog -- In honor of National Bioenergy Day, Greenwood Clean Energy opened the doors of its Development and Innovation Center in Redmond, WA today and welcomed local students, residents and public officials. Visitors were able to participate in captivating demonstrations that revealed the mystery of clean wood combustion and to discover the hidden energy in wood fuel. The guided tour educated guests on how wood is a sustainable, renewable, and carbon-friendly energy source.

Greenwood's educational event was one of more than 50 locations participating in this international event to raise awareness about the positive impact of bioenergy. National Bioenergy Day participants represent all types of bioenergy – power, thermal and fuels – and a broad base of advocates that include business, government and universities.

U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has continued to support bioenergy, saying, "Renewable wood energy is part of the Obama Administration's 'all of the above' energy strategy."

Bioenergy refers to energy – often space heat or electricity – that is produced from wood and other organic materials. Approximately 23% of all renewable energy consumed was from wood (EIA, 2013) – more than wind and solar combined and second only to hydroelectric energy.

"Bioenergy contributes a great deal to the rural economy and helps keep forests, and most importantly, our forest communities healthy and strong," said Michael Kuehner, President/CEO of Greenwood Clean Energy. "Our installers are local residents and our appliances generate clean energy from native materials that would otherwise be discarded. We are pleased to open our doors to students and interested parties to give them an opportunity to learn more about this underrated form of renewable energy."

As the first and only residential log wood boiler that meets the strict Washington State emission standards, the Greenwood® Frontier CX is in a new class of smart appliances that represents the future of the residential bioenergy or wood-fired central heating industry. Homeowners now have a cost effective option to heat their home and hot water using a local, renewable resource.

At today's event, attendees were able to experience Greenwood's revolutionary residential wood boiler that:

· Delivers industry-leading low emission performance,
· Saves homeowners 80% on their annual home heating bills, and
· Stimulates the local economy through jobs, savings, and renewable resource utilization.
