These aren't just any dogs
These are dogs that the illustrator and writer imagines as having been the companions to some of the 20th century's most famous artists: Pollock, Rothko, Warhol and others.
"It began with a mental excursion scribbling on scraps of paper while on a phone call." Tobias explained. "Most of them were silly visual puns and I almost threw them out - then I took a second look at the strange animal I had named, Paul Klee's Dog."
That scribble unlocked a humorous alternative history that invited the writer to explore the secret lives of dogs that may have belonged to famous artists.
"Once I had established the rules, which was essentially that there were no rules, it became pure whimsy and fun." Tobias explained.
Who knew that when Picasso's dog complained about having to pose in women's lingerie, the artist stomped his foot and said, in Spanish, "Does it matter? This is cubism!" or that Jasper John's dog could make a martini?
This collection of wonderfully drawn illustrations, with delightfully clever words, brings to life a Bohemian World where the dog is very much part of the 'art scene' and is often the driving force behind the artist.
Newly released on Amazon Kindle, DOGS of FAMOUS ARTISTS will appeal to a wide audience and also provides a unique gift option that's easy to purchase and deliver to anyone's email stocking, anywhere in the world.
