Chevrolet of Homewood is Giving Away a Brand New Sonic to a Family in Need

HOMEWOOD, Ill. - Oct. 18, 2016 - PRLog -- For the second year in a row, Chevrolet of Homewood will be holding a contest to give away a brand new Chevrolet Sonic to a local Chicagoland area family in need.

From November 1 to November 20, contestants will have the opportunity to submit a 200-word essay describing how a new Chevrolet Sonic will provide them or one of their friends or neighbors with a fresh start. Online voting will then take place from November 21 to November 30, with the top five vote-getters moving on to the final round, during which they will each create a video presenting their situation. The public will again be able to vote on the submitted video testimonies, with the winner announced on Christmas Eve.

The Homewood Chevy Cares Contest is an integral part of the dealership's community service program, and the interest it generated throughout the area last year came as something of a surprise. Over 300 essays were received, and more than 23,000 votes were tallied online. When it was all over, the Ferralez family of Oak Forest was chosen to receive the grand prize.

It had been a particularly difficult year for the Ferralez family. That summer, their daughter was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and the cost of care and treatment was astronomical. Fortunately, they had recently received the good news that the cancer was in remission, however the financial toll put them on the brink of not only losing their family car but also their home.

For local families like the Ferralez's, the Homewood Chevy Cares Contest represents a chance for a new beginning. For the folks at Chevrolet of Homewood, it's all about bringing people together for a good cause.
