BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Oct. 18, 2016 - PRLog -- The Community Empowerment Network is hosting a Trivia Night at the Slo Pitch Sports Grill and Casino in Bellingham, WA on November 9th.  Either come alone or form a team to enjoy a night of trivia and silent auction on the night after the election where you can relax, have fun, win prizes and help empower vulnerable communities in the Brazilian Amazon.

The proceeds of the night will support the building of a well for a Rural Family Home (CFR) in the Brazilian Amazon. The CFR is a three year education program that enables the region's youth to gain skills they need to create sustainable livelihoods and provide for their families. By providing this locally relevant and interdisciplinary education to the youth of the region, the CFR hopes to encourage younger generations to remain in their rural communities and foster self-reliance.

The construction of a well is a key step to upgrading the physical infrastructure, improving the financial condition, and raising the standard of instruction of the CFR. You can learn more here: http://www.endruralpoverty.org/what-we-do/projects/rural-family-home/rural-family-home-well-project.

The Community Empowerment Network is a Washington-State-based non-profit dedicated to empowering rural communities around the world, dedicated to empowering communities and their residents to break the cycle of poverty, through grassroots community development and building sustainable livelihoods.

For media outlets interested in complementing coverage of our event in conjunction with a short and compelling story about a specific individual whose life has been changed by the CFR, here are two vignettes. For more details, please contact us:

• Celson, a young man who through the CFR learned the skills he needed to stay in his rural home and thrive there. He compared the CFR to a mother, teaching the life skills he didn't learn in the classroom, helping him with self development.,
• Rather than follow his friends after middle school to look for work in the city of Santarem, Madson Santos chose to attend the Rural Family Home (CFR). Through the CFR, Madson developed a passion for forestry that he used to secure a full-time job in the School of Forestry upon graduating.  The school was so impressed with his firsthand knowledge of the forest that they are exploring a formal partnership with the CFR to train others to become teachers at the school, providing more youth from Vila Nova the opportunity to be educated out of poverty.
