COVENTRY, U.K. - Oct. 13, 2016 - PRLog -- Meet 16-year-old Jake Sexton - the newest recruit at PET-Xi, leading providers of intensive results-based educational interventions for school children - who has joined his parents Fleur and Chris Sexton at their Coventry company as a higher level apprentice.

PET-Xi launched its own apprenticeship scheme earlier this year and during the past six months has placed 30 apprentices with outside employers, as well as taking on 10 apprentices of its own.

Jake is taking a 24-month Level 4 apprenticeship in Business and Administration, with a view to then moving on to a Level 5 qualification in Management and Leadership.

"I've long been a believer in the value of apprenticeships because they help employers raise standards while providing young people with invaluable opportunities to gain skills and experience," said PET-Xi joint-managing director Fleur Sexton. 'So I was absolutely delighted when Jake showed an interest in joining us.  He's been interested in the business for years and despite gaining nine A*-B grades in his GCSEs, decided against sixth form and university so that he could join us and start 'earning and learning' immediately.

"Many of our current senior management team worked their way up through the ranks and we prefer to promote from within so we think Jake could see a clear career path ahead.

"The government has set a target of delivering 3 million apprenticeships by 2020 – it's a tall order but we are pleased to be doing our bit. Apprenticeships are real jobs that give people the opportunity to train and become fully competent while earning money.

"University is not for everyone – there are many different paths to success and apprenticeships are an excellent choice for anyone keen to put ideas into practice, rather than studying theoretically.  In fact so many young people have a degree these days that employers are searching for points of differentiation and real work experience is a key advantage when job-hunting."
