Levine Cancer Institute Shines A Light On Rare Cancers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Oct. 11, 2016 - PRLog -- Understanding myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) can often be complex, but evolving research and advances in MPNs over the past several years have changed the field and allowed patients to access newer therapies and better care. On Saturday, October 22nd, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Patient Power and its partner, Levine Cancer Institute, will host a town meeting, featuring MPN experts, clinicians and patient advocates sharing their knowledge and expertise about the latest research and treatments.

This is a rare opportunity to discuss a rare type of cancer, and for patients and their loved ones to become better informed and more engaged. Our guest speakers include two renowned MPN specialists: Dr. Michael Grunwald, from the Carolinas HealthCare System's Levine Cancer Institute, and Dr. Srdan Verstovsek, from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. We'll also be joined by LCI patient, David Wallace, living with a rare cancer called PV, who established a foundation to help empower patients. The event is co-hosted by Charlotte televison personality and cancer advocate Moira Quinn.


During this interactive town meeting, you will have the opportunity to meet and connect with medical experts, other patients, survivors and care partners touched by polycythemia vera (PV), essential thrombocythemia (ET) and myelofibrosis (MF).  Our hope is that you'll share your knowledge among your peers to learn and be inspired by those you meet.
