Consolidation in the Latam Videogames Industry: NGD Studios acquires Red Katana studio

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina - Oct. 11, 2016 - PRLog -- NGD Studios, the developer behind the recently released Master of Orion reboot, has acquired and merged operations with fellow Argentinean studio Red Katana. The acquisition will allow the studio to increase its capacity to tackle new projects and opportunities such as console development while improving its business and productive processes.

After a prolific decade as CEO that saw NGD go from a small indie team to a full-fledged AAA studio, Andres Chilkowski will be stepping down to take the role of  Chief Creative Officer role, leveraging his knowledge and expertise to take the creative side of the company to new heights. He will remain as chairman in the company's board of directors.

Martin Cao, former CEO of Red Katana and MBA, will replace him as the new CEO of NGD Studios, using his extensive managerial skills to grow the company and push it to the next level. Cesar Guarinoni (COO) and Javier Otaegui (CTO) will continue on their respective roles, completing a first class management team.

"Making videogames has become more competitive and challenging than ever, and the only way to succeed is by being the best in every area. By combining the strengths of both our companies, we are better prepared than ever to face the challenge", said Martin Cao, newly appointed CEO of NGD Studios.

Chilkowski said the following about the acquisition: "We've known for a while that our studios shared the same values and complemented each other perfectly. Martin, has a great deal of experience in Management, Business and Marketing, while I have always been more focused in the Creative and Technical side of making games. As NGD grows in size and experience, we are uniquely positioned to become the number one development studio in Latin America."
