Erlinda Carasco Torres, Unsung Hero Gone Too Soon
WCH founder and president Princess Maria Amor is grieving over her beloved mother's passing.
Erlinda was known to many as a notable kind woman and a charismatic person with compassionate heart. She was called "Tia Ely" by those who look up to her, by her colleagues at work and friends who loved her cooking.
"Nanay (Mama) was the very first humanitarian I had ever known. We were not rich but I remember when we were young, my mother always had food for the homeless, always ready to help to relatives and friends in need", said Princess Maria Amor. "Because of Nanay, I am what I am today, making a change, helping humanity. She was my inspiration for putting up the now internationally acclaimed NGO- We Care for Humanity, helping women and children in many countries and giving humanitarian awards to the greatest humanitarians of the world including heads of states, dignitaries, and kings and queens. I may not had been able to honor her alongside other humanitarians when she was alive but Nanay was my hero and would always stay my hero forever. She inculcated in my mind to always stay humble and true in helping people, and to never ever let corruption gets into my organization."
Erlinda or Ely was survived by her husband- Reynaldo Torres; her daughters- Maria Amor, Tina T. Ayungao and Rizaline T. Pascual; son- Ferdinand Torres; grandchildren-
Ely's children have the same thing to say about their mother, "Nanay was the greatest mother in the world, she loved us unconditionally, we couldn't have asked for more. She was the most loving, patient and understanding human being and she was always there for us. How we wished she lived longer so we could show her more how much we love her deeply."
"To my beloved, sweet, beautiful Nanay, you are engraved in my heart forever. I love you so much", parting words from her eldest daughter, Amor.
Here's a tribute poem I dedicate to you written by Maureen Brindle:
To Nanay Erlinda Carasco Torres
The breath of life she gave to me
She taught me the world to see
Her love for all humanity.
The family is where it starts
The birth of all human hearts
Love that sets the world apart
So precious was her smile to me
A different world it made me see
To work to help humanity.
Nanay taught me everything I know
The seeds of peace are there to sow
Into the world I had to go.
Sometimes I wanted to be there
You always know how much l care
Sometimes duty is so unfair
Now every day missing you
To your spirit I'll be true
Working always loving you
You're the force that drives me on
Always with me though your gone
The star in my sky that had always shone
God's family is all humanity
Now with the angels Nanay will be
Spreading God's love for all to see.
