AshKay Island Featured at Mitsubishi Diamond Contractors Conference

MANCHESTER, Mich. - Oct. 10, 2016 - PRLog -- Andy Bobo, Owner of the AshKay Island vacation rental, has been invited to speak at the National Conference for Mitsubishi Diamond Contractors in Chicago this month.

Andy also owns CMR Mechanical, a heating and cooling company that created a customized climate system for the luxury rental cabin using Mitsubishi technology. AshKay is completely off grid…the electrical power for the island comes from the sun.

The solar array on the cottage roof is comprised of 30 Mitsubishi 265 watt panels for a total of 8 Kw. The 24-2 volt batteries store the power until needed and are charged by 2 charge controllers. Once there is a demand for power the inverter takes the DC and inverts it to AC and sends the power to the cabin. This is all done seamlessly and provides power for virtually all the energy needs.

One truly exciting aspect of the system is its ability to operate the Mitsubishi Ductless Heat Pump. The heat pump uses a very efficient compressor and evaporator coil in a small package to heat and cool the cottage. In 90 degree outdoor temperatures, the heat pump can decrease the temperature inside the cottage at a rate of 1 degree every 10 minutes. It's nice to have a 68 degree indoor temperature when the outdoor temperature is 93 and the humidity is high.  The best part is that it's essentially free since the sun does all of the work!  The best parts about being off grid is that there is no monthly bill, no noise from a generator, and you're not taking from the energy grid.

Mitsubishi Electric recently shot a video of the cottage showcasing the Mitsubishi panels with the Heat Pump.  They were impressed with the design and installation of the system and the fact that off grid living can be so comfortable. Since CMR Mechanical installed the system over a year ago, it has worked flawlessly.
