LOS ANGELES - Oct. 8, 2016 - PRLog -- Wounded is a biography about American patriot and Vietnam War hero Santiago Jim Nunez, born of Mexican decent in East Los Angeles, CA in 1949. The book, brilliantly written by his son Adrian Miguel Nunez, tells Santiago's courageous life story in graphic detail. The moving tale begins with Santiago's childhood and adolescent years spent living in foster homes where poverty and struggle in the slums of Los Angeles were a daily occurrence. The story continues with Santiago's experiences as a U.S. Army Paratrooper during the height of the Vietnam War. The reader will experience first-hand accounts of comradery, bravery, horror, fear, and learn of his courage under fire that earned him the Silver Star. The book chronicles the post war emotional trauma that remained embedded in Santiago's soul and led to his struggle with PTSD. It goes on to describe his relentless fight with the Veterans Administration for appropriate disability compensation after being critically wounded and returning home to a world where nobody cared. A battle that would last year's taking its toll on Santiago both emotionally and financially.

However, this is not a story about downfall or defeat. Instead it is epic novel of one man's test of faith, his revival of spirit, and finding redemption through God after overcoming incredible odds. It is a tribute to man's ability to triumph and rise above all adversity even after enduring the worst conceivable circumstances.

The author tells Santiago's story with vivid descriptive imagery that moves the reader through a myriad of emotions. The depicted experiences are actual and gripping. The work is presented with a raw straight forward style that is indicative of great story telling, expressing a resounding realism that often shocks the senses. It is a well written narrative that is both heartbreaking and inspiring, and like a delectable meal, it will leave the reader full and satisfied.
