INDEPENDENCE, Iowa - Oct. 8, 2016 - PRLog -- The Varisty Football team of the INDEE Mustpangs traveled to Vinton, IA to take on Vinton-Shellsburg. This was Homecoming for Vinton-Shellsburg and they wanted the win...bad! The first half of the game proved to show that this was Vinton-Shellsburg's night. The Mustangs only managed to have 21 total offense yards in the first half. However, this type of game led to a big tackle night for a couple Mustangs.

Isaiah Miller of the Independence Mustangs had 14 tackles with 7 of them being solo tackles. Fellow teammate, Andrue Wright, had 11 tackles and 8 of them were solo tackles. That is a huge night for any defense football player and that is something to look forward to in the future for this Independence Mustangs team. Vinton - Shellsburg took advantage of several Mustang turnovers and turned them into scores. The INDEE defense proved once again that they are the strength of this team at the moment. Once the offense holds onto the ball and commits fewer turnovers...this team can play with anybody.
