Health Ministry of Punjab Government awarded LPU for its Blood-Donation Endeavours

JALANDHAR, India - Oct. 8, 2016 - PRLog -- Health Ministry of Punjab Government has awarded Lovely Professional University for its consummate blood-donation endeavours. LPU stands at 9^th place in the whole of the state, amid 27 honoured organizations, by donating 1417 blood units. LPU received 'Appreciation Award' during a state level honouring ceremony held in Mansa (Bathinda) on National Voluntary Blood Donation Day-2016. Punjab State Blood Transfusion Council & Punjab State Aids Control Society had jointly invited all voluntary blood donor organizations, which arranged more than 1000 units of blood in the period of 1^st September 2015 to 31^st August 2016.

In the modern health care system, transfusing or donating blood or its components to the needy persons has become very important part of the humanity. The demand for blood has gone up due to increase in number of accidents, surgeries and transfusions. Donating blood without any expectation is a great endeavour in the life saving process. As such, National Voluntary Blood Donation Day is celebrated every year to share the need and importance of the blood in the life of an individual. It awakens people about the importance of the voluntary blood donation, emphasizes the self esteem of blood donors, and also motivates people who are not interested in donating blood even being in good health.

LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal congratulated all the blood donors of LPU for the rare honour received.  Mrs Mittal shared: "LPU has been organizing blood donation camps in association with many voluntary organizations without a stop since its inception. LPU has always inspired maximum voluntary donors for donating maximum number than targeted blood units. LPU students and staff members have always revealed increasing enthusiasm in both organization of such camps and in donating the blood." Terming blood donation as a bonding between societies and communities, Mrs Mittal also complemented the efforts of all voluntary organizations for working tirelessly towards such a humane cause. Highlighting, LPU has already been honoured many a times by national and state level awards by many prestigious voluntary organizations including 'Indian Red Cross Society'.
