Murphy, president and CEO at South Nassau. "These centers will be able to provide the specialized treatments and care needed to address what are often sensitive urologic health problems." The Centers will offer the array of advanced technologies and therapies to treat the range of urologic disorders and diseases afflicting women and men. South Nassau chose a community-based location for the center to facilitate patients' access of their physicians as well as the center's board-certified physicians and patient-centered advances in urologic care. The location is also just a few blocks from the hospital's main campus in Oceanside. The building's interior is being completely remodeled with new, comfortable furnishings, and the exterior will be improved with new lighting, landscaping and a resurfaced parking lot with 21 spaces reserved for patients and physicians only. South Nassau physicians and staff currently provide these services in different locations, including Valley Stream. By consolidating in one location, patients will have easy access to the experts and specialists they need in a private setting. "We will provide the therapies and treatments that will enable women to gain control over urologic health problems that are not only detrimental to their health and wellness, but also demoralizing and restrictive," Dr. Garely is one of the country's leading experts on pelvic floor reconstruction for women facing pelvic organ prolapse, a condition that occurs when the muscles of the pelvic floor are weakened or damaged, often due to childbirth. Michael Herman, MD, director of urology at South Nassau, said the very latest techniques are being used at South Nassau to address issues like prostate cancer. South Nassau is one of the only hospitals in Nassau County to offer MRI-Ultrasound Targeted Biopsy, an innovative new technology for more precise and accurate detection of prostate cancer.
