Andalou Naturals and Vital Voices Global Partnership Celebrate Women Leaders Who Are Transforming the World at Vital Voices San Francisco 2016
By: Andalou Naturals
The evening will spotlight women leaders, all members of the Vital Voices Global Leadership Network, and the transformational change they are making in their communities. Featured interviews include the remarkable Khanim Latif, who operates the first independent NGO to focus on preventing violence against women in Iraq; the courageous Hafsat Abiola, who fuels movements for democracy, gender equality and women's leadership as she develops a rising generation of women leaders in Nigeria; and the inspiring Akanksha Hazari, who turned access to phones into access to critical goods and services, such as clean water, healthcare, education and energy.
The first-ever summit with 100 of the most innovative and daring women leaders from around the world will also include the city's very own Audrey Cooper, the first female editor-in-chief of the San Francisco Chronicle and Tina Brown, the award-winning journalist, editor, author and founder and CEO of Tina Brown Live Media, along with Kathleen Matthews, a journalist in Washington, D.C. for 40 years and former Chief Global Communications & Public Affairs Officer at Marriott International, and Sandra E. Peterson, the Executive Vice President and Group Worldwide Chairman for Johnson & Johnson.
Andalou Naturals founder and CEO Stacey Kelly Egide, a charter member of the Vital Voices Council of the Bay Area, will serve as the evening's benefactor and during the event will award a $25,000 Beauty is You® grant to one courageous leader whose business model and passion have created a social enterprise that empowers impoverished women.
"I believe that every company can create a culture of philanthropy built right into their business plan," said Egide. "When we launched Andalou Naturals it was with the intention to create a sustainable source of revenue for socially responsible people and projects. Our work with Vital Voices Global Partnership inspires everyone within our organization to work harder and achieve even more success. These courageous women are exposing corruption, empowering underserved communities and fearlessly responding to humanitarian crises and extremism and they deserve our support."
Andalou Naturals' face, body and hair care products include A Path of Light® Hand Creams, made with Organic and Fair Trade Shea Butter, which are specifically designed as a way to give back to women everywhere – one product at a time. Each year 100% of the net proceeds from A Path of Light® Hand Creams supports the next generation of young women leaders with grants to Vital Voices, SHE-CAN, and How Woman Lead. In 5 short years Andalou Naturals has donated over $638,000.
Vital Voices CEO Alyse Nelson sees the Andalou Naturals model as a powerful one, "Successful business women and entrepreneurs that seek to give back and pay it forward by investing in women leaders around the globe are affecting lasting change and promoting peace by accelerating shared progress for all. Stacey Kelly Egide exemplifies the spirit of Vital Voices."
