CARLISLE, Pa. - Oct. 4, 2016 - PRLog -- When it rains for an entire event weekend and your gate numbers are still up, you know you have a solid event.  That was indeed the case for the 2016 Fall Carlisle weekend.  The five-day swap meet and car corral weekend, Carlisle Events' flagship show, saw wet weather four of the five days.  Despite that, an international audience flocked to Carlisle to buy, sell and trade all things automotive.  Plus, Carlisle Auctions presented a two-day auction that moved millions in classic and collector cars.  The power of the weekend was such that attendance for the 2016 Fall event was up over 2015's show and proved that regardless of what Mother Nature has in store, what Carlisle Events has to offer is even better.

All the fun commenced early in the week, as vendors were onsite doing business with one another as early as Sunday, September 25.  Once the guests started showing up to the Carlisle Fairgrounds on September 28, the real deals started happening at every turn.  Items varied from the simple to the rare and with free taxi and parts hauling options, guests felt comfortable with making a purchase that they maybe could not otherwise carry.  Cars for sale in the car corral were also a popular draw.  Thousands of cars and trucks spanning automotive history were positioned from south to north on the east side of the grounds.  While these cars were for sale, they also made for a great car show for everyone to check out, view, review and snap photos of.

Saturday hosted a little get together in the evening to recognize the swap meet vendors, which included complimentary food and drinks. This was the second year that Carlisle hosted a vendor party. National TV also came to Carlisle once more to showcase this event.  Joining the guests at Fall Carlisle for the first time ever was TV personality Ted Vernon, host of South Beach Classics on Velocity.  Ted and his crew from Accord Productions spent two days wheeling and dealing within the swap meet, car corral and auction.  This episode will be put together over the next few months and air sometime in early 2017 as part of the new, upcoming season.

Finally, what would Fall Carlisle be without its popular car auction?  As previously mentioned, Carlisle Auctions supported this aspect of the weekend and did so with amazing results.  419 cars crossed the block with 60% of them actually being sold.  The Fall 2016 offering garnered $4.6 million in sales, the most ever for a Fall Auction.  Cars were priced to move too as rides sold from the low four figures to six figure range.  The top five sellers amassed nearly $600,000.  Of that total, the top seller was a 1970 Ford Boss 429 Mustang ($214,000).  The second high seller was a 1961 Mercedes Benz 190SL ($117,000), third was a 1954 Buick Skylark Convertible ($105,930), fourth was a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Pro Touring ($80,250) and rounding out the top five was a 1955 Mercedes Benz 190SL ($80,250).  Each sales price mentioned includes all fees associated with the auction.

With Fall Carlisle in the bag along with its auction, Carlisle Events turns its attention to Lakeland, Florida and its Fall Florida AutoFest event.  This event, much like Spring and Fall Carlisle, is a home for all things automotive and is where thousands of guests come to buy, sell and trade.  Anchored by a car show and the auction, there are also activities and unique displays.  Fall AutoFest runs November 10-13, with the auction taking place November 11-12.  For information on the auction or to secure a vending space, call 717-243-7855 or visit www.CarlisleEvents.com.
