Audio Only Video Game Arrives on Steam Greenlight - 'Dark Passenger'

Many games are doing little to innovate, "1-UPing" others with graphical improvements. An underdog comes forward with a new idea that forces devs to rethink.

NOTTINGHAM, U.K. - Sept. 29, 2016 - PRLog -- Idea Cabin, a tiny game studio run by one man, living on the edge of an old English city known for the legend of Robin Hood is an unlikely player for gaming innovation. The innovation in question is simple, yet effective, the idea of making a video game without the video aspect. Playing a game with no visuals provides players with a unique experience and presents new challenges.

We've all heard the gaming mantra before: "It's not about the graphics, it's about the gameplay". Such thinking allowed games like Minecraft to become a huge hit, along with a slew of Indie hits that focus on new ideas instead of graphical fidelity.

Such new ideas within the gaming community are a great boon to many gamers who are bored with the stale tried and true gaming genres that do not take risks.

Dark Passenger, the new game in question starts you off in a morbid scenario of having a panic attack as your character adjusts to the fact that their eyes have been recently removed from their body. You are soon greeted by a mentally suspect man, who seems to take perverse, sadistic pleasure in your situation. Yet, this twisted man tries to calm you down, promising to guide you to safety.

In order for players to navigate this unknown environment, the player must use their ears to pin point items as well as dangerous enemies and obstacles so that they may progress. You are soon met with alert guards who chase you down in escape sequences as well as stealth situations where you must make little noise and stay out of sight of patrols by using your ears to map out where enemies are going and use your cunning to create openings.

Daniel Pain, the creator of Dark Passenger has stated that he will release the game within October this year on multiple game distribution services such as Itch.io and hopes to get the game onto Steam soon. However, in order to achieve this on Steam's game distribution service, the Steam Greenlight campaign requires more support and therefore he is campaigning for more exposure to help his cause and bring this new idea to the forefront of the gaming community.

The campaign can be found here which includes a playable demo of Dark Passenger:
