Sonoran Desert Falconry, Inc. Using Crowdfunding to Bring The Desert To Disadvantaged Classrooms

PHOENIX - Sept. 28, 2016 - PRLog -- Sonoran Desert Falconry is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization established to conduct educational programs on the Sonoran Desert and its wildlife, with an emphasis on birds of prey. Our goal is to make our website a fully interactive publishing and educational platform for students, teachers, and hobbyists. Technology has changed paradigms in publishing, from words written on paper that are bound into books, to digital stratospheres capable of utilizing three-dimensional illustrations, video, and educational material simultaneously. We will use this technology to bring viewers from all over the world into the Sonoran Desert. We will also take our birds and other desert critters, like the elusive tortoise, to Title I Schools for an amazing hands-on learning experience for students and teachers alike.

The definition of a disadvantaged student is one with unfavorable social and/or financial opportunities. In the state of Arizona, when over 50% of the students are disadvantaged, the school is classified Title 1 (http://www.azed.gov/title-i/programs/). Sonoran Desert Falconry, Inc. will conduct in-school educational programs in Title 1 schools, predominantly in the Phoenix metropolitan area, but is open to travel statewide. The primary goal of these programs is to introduce disadvantaged youth to careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) topics through the lens of Sonoran Desert ecology and conservation.

Our fundraising campaign launched on September 28th on GrantsWe.fund. We chose GrantsWe.fund, a new site, because we wanted to be a part of their amazing community of others who are providing valuable services to change the world we live in. More than just an educational program or an informational website, Sonoran Desert Falconry, Inc. will publish a great deal of educational content with the goal of changing lives. We are planning a series of Sonoran Desert educational e-Books for teachers in Title 1 schools to enhance existing lesson plans in Biology and Earth Science. Through in-school and online presences, our goal is to reach over 2 million people per year. We are asking for your help to do that. Share, share, share our story and donate if you are able!
