Paul Henderson Launches '72 Summit Series Children's Book on Kickstarter

TORONTO - Sept. 29, 2016 - PRLog -- Paul Henderson, the hero of the 1972 Summit Series who scored the game winning goals for Team Canada in the final three games of the series, announced today a new project called "The Greatest Jersey Ever". The Greatest Jersey Ever is a children's book project launched on Kickstarter, with the goal of keeping printing, publishing, and illustration 100% Canadian. The book is dedicated to passing on the legacy of the greatest moment in Canadian sports history to a new generation. The Greatest Jersey Ever campaign is live and now available on Kickstarter.

The book follows a brother and a sister as they re-live the moments of the 1972 Summit Series through the experiences of their grandparents. It will cover some of the highs and lows of the series, from falling short of Canada's expectations & disappointing a country, to one of the greatest comebacks in sports history. The story will bring together parents & kids, grandparents & grandkids, the way it brought a nation together in 1972.

The story of the "Greatest Jersey Ever" goes far beyond just hockey. This true story is set in 1972 when the Cold War between then communist Russia and almost the rest of the free world was at its height. It brought together 2 polar opposite nations and the top two hockey rivals in the world, at a time when no one thought it was possible. It is a story about hockey, history and family.

With 34 seconds left in game 8, Paul Henderson scored the goal to win the 1972 Summit Series – voted by the Canadian Press as the "Goal of the Century", the most recognized goal in Canadian sports history. Paul Henderson's Team Canada '72 game worn jersey was auctioned for $1.275 Million (USD) and is in the Guinness World Book of Records as "the most expensive hockey jersey in the world."

This self-published book, launched on Kickstarter, is a Canadian story that will be 100% made in Canada. All aspects of the book will be Canadian including the writer, artist, & printing company from start to finish.
