PRLog -- The Part 107 announcement has come and gone and the process to become a compliant Drone/UAS operator doesn't have the expense and barriers it once did. Many are now in the development stages to take the opportunity of using a Drone to provide services that will improve efficiency, reduce cost, and improve safety for an endless number of industries.
In forming a business, securing insurance is not only a wise decision to protect the assets of your business and personal life, it may be required by your clients. I have started several businesses myself. And prior to entering the insurance business, I thought it was prudent to do my due dilligence and go to numerous agents/brokers to see who could come up with the most cost effective and comprehensive protection program. I completely understand the thought process in doing ths. However, this couldn't be further from the truth! Many outside of the industry aren't aware of how the agent/broker model works. There are between 5-10 insurance carriers who are currently writing this Drone/UAS Liability and/or Hull coverage. Some have a background in Aviation and some are adapting a Commercial General Liability policy. Each insurance carrier assigns the account to the agent/broker who presents the risk first. I currently work with 3-4 insurance carriers who I feel have the best coverage. As you can see with 10 options of insurance carriers, many like myself working with multiple, you can limit your broker/agent ability to get you the best program by contacting numerous agents.
