Zayed University launches Second Student Engagement, Training and Services Learning Day

AL DHAFRAH, UAE - Sept. 28, 2016 - PRLog -- Zayed University kicked off its second Student Engagement, Training and Services Learning Day (SETS) with a variety of programs and supports aimed at augmenting the students experiences at Zayed University in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses.

The SETS day aims to build students' skills for their future career path and support their learning experience. Around 30 workshops were held in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses.

Workshops discussed and highlighted various topics, such as definition of ethics, honor and integrity, healthy lifestyle, leadership and service, creative reading, and many others.

Professor Reyadh AlMehaideb, Vice President of Zayed University, said: "Zayed University is always committed to play a vital role in cultivating student engagement. We believe that increased student engagement and motivation is key to academic and behavioral success."

"Positive engagement with the many opportunities for personal and social development, which Zayed University offers today, contributes significantly to students retention and ultimately student academic success. Therefore, SETS day was launched to promote student integration into the life of the university in order to promote a sense of belonging and develop powerful learner identities," AlMehaideb added.

With the appointment of a CEO for happiness and positivity at all government bodies and the establishment of councils for happiness and positivity at federal entities, the Student Life organized "Make Them Happy" workshop. It encourages students to write positive message to whoever they want, with an aim to draw a smile and to gauge happiness and positivity levels within the university.

"Ten Jewels for Student Success," was another workshop held to enhance students' awareness, knowledge, ad skills regarding the ten critical components of student success.

With twenty distinguished Eritrean students enrolled at Zayed University this year, a cultural and culinary exhibition was held to take students on a journey through the hills and beaches of Eritrea. The exhibition aimed at introducing Eritrea's culture and traditions through videos, pictures, and traditional homemade dishes.

Furthermore, the Student Life Department at Zayed University organized workshops to raise awareness about the importance of integrating more UAE nationals into the private workforce for the prosperity of the private sector and well-being of the UAE, as part of Absher initiative that was launched in 2012 by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Students who attended training sessions and workshops earned certificates, as part of the university students co-curricular program that is designed to recognize and record a student's contribution in the areas of service and experiential learning, training and leadership.
