SUNNYVALE, Calif. - Sept. 28, 2016 - PRLog -- Mike Conroy, Vice President of Operations for Level 10 Construction's San Diego office, announced today the company has completed several higher education projects at the University of San Diego (USD) and the University of California San Diego (UC San Diego). The projects include the $3.7 million renovation of Loma Hall at USD and the renovation of several labs at UC San Diego.

Loma Hall is a three-story building that is home to the Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering. Phase I of the work at Loma Hall was an 11,654-sq-ft tenant improvement, requiring the demolition of most of the first floor to transform it into a showcase space for the School of Engineering.

The new space includes a lobby and corridors, shop area, ideation space, rapid prototyping lab, and restrooms. It also includes accessibility improvements along the perimeter of the building to bring the space up to current ADA and California Building Code requirements.

Unique challenges included completing the work in an occupied facility, which required close collaboration among Level 10 Construction, the subcontractors, and the faculty team. The architect for Loma Hall was Delawie. The representative for USD was Melissa Plaskonos, assistant vice president of Facilities Management.

The Urey Hall design-build project at UC San Diego includes the renovation of two existing Quantitative Biology (qBio) labs on the 6th floor of Urey Hall. Level 10 Construction's work for the 2,017-sq.-ft. area included new interior partitions and finishes, along with new interior and exterior doors. The project also includes lighting, electrical and HVAC upgrades. The architect is Harley Ellis Devereaux. Pre-Design Manager for UC San Diego was Haven Buchmiller.

"Level 10 Construction's project team has extensive experience in higher education projects," said Conroy. "We are focused on providing a high level of service to our clients with a flexible approach that is focused on quality, cost, and schedule."

In addition to higher education projects, Level 10's San Diego office is currently working on a variety of project types, including mixed-use, vertical multi-family, biopharmaceutical, and advanced technology.
