The Western Pennsylvania Dystonia Support Group is led by Shayla Anthony, Ed Cwalinski, Fran Lehman, and MaryRae Nee, all of who are personally affected by dystonia. "Dystonia is a day in, day out chronic illness that not enough people know about," explained event co-organizer Nee. "The participation of everyone who supported the Zoo Walk is helping to bring change both locally and nationally. Thanks to everyone who attended and to our amazing sponsors, vendors, and volunteers for another great event!" Nee will join volunteers from across the country in Washington, DC in April to educate Members of Congress about dystonia and the need for increased federal research funding. Event co-organizer Cwalinski also stresses the importance of promoting greater awareness, "This was an unbelievable turnout this year. We saw lots of new faces so that means that the word is getting out. This year was our best year with the most money raised and most people attended, and next year will be even bigger and better." Houman Homayoun, MD, a neurologist at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center attended the Zoo Walk and provided remarks.
